Obituary of Bonnie Barry
Bonnie Rae Barry, 63, of State College, died Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at Mount Nittany Medical Center, State College.
Born May 19, 1951, in Williamsport, she was the daughter of the late Lewis J. and Dorothy Mae Bordinger Wenzel. On April 28, 1973 she married Bob B. Barry who survives.
Also surviving is one son, Aaron R. Barry and his wife, Lisa, of Lower Burrell; one daughter, Shawna M. Barry of Arlington, VA; one sister, Lynette D. Farwell and her husband, Keith R., of State College; and one grandson, Nathan.
She was a 1969 graduate of State College Area High School and earned a Bachelor's degree from Penn State University in Education in 1973.
Bonnie taught Family and Consumer Science for the State College Area School District for 35 years.
Bonnie was a member of the University Baptist and Brethren Church and a lifelong member of the choir. She loved helping those in need, particularly the four-legged variety, and served as a devoted volunteer for Centre County PAWS for over twenty years. She also participated in the Battery "B" Civil War Reenactment Group and was a member of the Centre Pieces Quilt Guild.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., on Friday, October 10, 2014 at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 South Atherton Street, State College.
Memorial service will be held at 7 p.m., on Saturday, October 11, 2014 at the University Baptist and Brethren Church, 411 South Burrowes Street, State College, with Reverend Bonnie Kline Smeltzer officiating.
Burial will be in Centre County Memorial Park.
