Ronald Miles Delmonico, 72, of State College, died Sunday, November 2, 2014 at Juniper Village Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing at Brookline, (formerly The Fairways) State College, after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. Born on September 17, 1942 in Syracuse, NY to Alfred and Ruth Hughes Delmonico. On December 3, 1994 he married Karen Farris who survives at home. He was a very devoted father to his sons, Darryl C. Delmonico and his wife, Loren of Walnut Creek, CA, Tyrone R. Delmonico and his wife, Michelle of Hummelstown, along with their mother Shirl Delmonico of State College, four grandchildren Andrew, Alexis, Aliana, and Nicholas, stepsons Steven Freed of State College, PA, Nicholas Freed of Dallas, TX, two brothers, Richard Delmonico and his wife, Janet of San Bernardino, CA, Alfred Delmonico of Alexandria, VA, and Ron's twin sister, Ruth Weissberger and her husband, Ted of Yarmouth Port, MA. Ron was a 1960 graduate of Syracuse High School and graduated from University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, received OKU Honorary Society upon graduation, Class of 1966. He was affiliated with Psi Omega Fraternity and Omicron Kappa Upsilon, national dental honorary. He began his dental practice in downtown State College in 1966, and had a very successful practice for 35 years, retiring in 2001. He was a very talented and well respected dentist and there wasn't a time after retirement that he wouldn't be stopped by one of his patients around town, and expressed how much they missed him. Ron was inspired by working alongside his father, Dr. Alfred Delmonico, and like him, loved passing along his knowledge and training to his dental hygienists and assistants. He was a friend to many and was admired by many of his peers for his professionalism. He served as a long time board member of the Easter Seals Society and received the "Brace For An Ace" award. Ron was an active member of the local Republican Party, and a lifetime member of the Benevolent Order of the Elks. As a volunteer he helped establish and treat children in the Centre-Clear Dental Van "Smile Mobile". He enjoyed playing golf with his buddies, had a tremendous love for music especially romantic songs, good wines, cooking, traveling, and loved collecting his Uncle Jack's paintings. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2014 at Mountain View Country Club, Boalsburg. Further details will be announced when available.
