Obituary of Robert Witmer

Robert D. Witmer 84 a resident of Boalsburg died Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at the Hearthside Nursing Home in State College. Born December 8, 1926 in State College, PA, he was the son of the late Charlotte O'Bryan Witmer. On October 6, 1951 he married the former Helen M Simco who preceded him in death in November 13, 2004. Robert was a graduate of Pierce College in Philadelphia with a degree in accounting. He was employed as the accountant controller at O.W. Houtz in State College for 47years, and was a veteran of the US Army and served in the Pacific Theater of Operations during WW II. He was a member of the State College Presbyterian Church and a life member of State College Elks Lodge #1600 of the BPOE. Robert loved to volunteer and like helping other people. Robert is also survived by 2 daughters Carol M. Kresge and husband Jeff of Boalsburg and Sharon L. Tuite and husband Verne of Gurnee, Illinois. And by his companion Ethel Leach of State College. Also surviving are 4 grand children, Katie Tuite, Michael Tuite, Gayle Kresge and Connie Kresge. In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by a sister Florence Biddle. Friends will be received at the Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton Street, State College, PA on Friday, April 1, 2011 from 10 until 11 am. A Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home on Friday April 1, 2011at 11:00 am with Rev. Alfred W. Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Centre County Memorial Park.
