Ann, I was so sad to learn of Zane's passing. He showed such kindness when i would bring my son to visit my dad and mom (Harold and Barbara Black). Hold on to your memories Ann. They WILL sustain you. God bless you and your family.

I was very saddened to hear of Zane's passing. As Zane's first graduate student at Penn State, we shared many learning experiences together - me as a student and neophyte scientist and he as an adviser and confident. I consider him as a one of the major influences of my career and life. You will be missed by me and all those that followed!

Dear Anne and family, we were so sad to hear about Zane this week. He will be missed in so many ways, but we trust the many fond memories will get you through this difficult time. Zane was always a supportive, sincere, caring father figure from my times as an undergrad in Entomology at PSU, through his serving on my M.S. committee and tracking my career thru the years. We will miss connecting with him at the tailgates and visits to Earlystown Manor. His impact on people was immediate, as many family and friends I introduced to him over the years at your tailgate remember his infectious kindness from just one passing moment. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Barbara and I are so sorry about Zane's passing. Heather and Keith's wedding was I and Barbara's first encounter with Zane and Anne. Although our stays at Earlystown B&B where a few, every stay was memorable. Thanks for the memories Anne and Zane.

Zane was a truly wonderful advisor and I was lucky to work with him for 5 1/2 years in the late 1970s. He was also a very good person and possessed both class and integrity. He has had a lifelong influence on me and my career.
I wish the family well in these trying times.
