Obituary of Eleanor Towler

Eleanor M. "Ellie" Towler, 91, of State College, died Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at Mt. Nittany Medical Center. Born October 22, 1923 in Lowell, MA, she was the daughter of Charles J. and Jenny V. Gill Curry. Ellie is survived by her children, Charles Towler, and wife Dawn, of Lancaster, Colleen F. Sloss, and husband, William L. Sloss, of Clarence, Timmothy J. Towler, of Dickson, TN; daughter-in-law, Shannon Towler, of Fairview, TN; grandchildren, Nicole M. Raineri, Charles D., Samantha, Leah, and Austin Towler; brother, Edward F. Curry of Henderson, KY; and her spiritual family, Peter and Lucy Oseghali and their children, Leawndra, Odegua, and Oba Oseghali. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sons, William Towler on November 30, 1957 and Mark K. Towler on March 30, 2012. Ellie was a nurse aide working as a home visiting nurse from 1965-1976 then was employed as a nurse aide for Mary Immaculate, a healthcare provider. She was a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church and volunteered at St. Vincent De Paul Society. Ellie was also a member of the State College Senior Citizen Center and enjoyed participating in the Senior Games. She enjoyed sports, reading and spending time with her family. A Memorial Mass will be at 10:30 a.m., on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, 820 Westerly Parkway, State College. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Lowell, MA, at 1 p.m., on Tuesday, January 13, 2015.
