My condolences to the Shartel family. I have fond recollections of Mr. Shartel as a substitute teacher from when I was a student at Penns Valley High School in the 1990's, he was a very helpful and caring individual. After returning to the district a few years later with a teaching degree of my own, I was pleased to cross paths with with him once again. I approached him and told him who I was, he was very pleased that I remembered him and he thanked my several times. I always enjoyed having him as a substitute teacher, he was a very kind gentleman.
