Obituary of Sheila Swanger
Sheila E. Swanger, 71, of Boalsburg, died Friday, February 27, 2015 at her residence.
Born February 4, 1944, in Spartanburg, SC, she was the daughter of the late Horace and Mattie Lee Whitehead Henderson.
She is survived by three daughters, Kimberly Swanger-Grove and her husband, Doug, of Bellefonte, Stacy Snyder and her husband, Eric, of State College and Michelle Swanger of Newport, NC; two sisters, Elizabeth Stringer and her husband, Robert, of Bay City, MI and Patricia Honeycutt of Fuquay-Varina, NC; one brother, Hugh Henderson and his wife, Jo, of Chattanooga, TN; four grandchildren, Jonathan Grove, Erikka Snyder, Bradley Snyder and Matthew "J.R." Young.
Sheila attended State College School District. She received her Bachelor's degree in Business from Penn State University.
After twenty five years of service she retired from the Office of Physical Plant from Penn State University.
She was a member of State College Christian and Missionary Alliance Church and the Boalsburg Ladies Auxiliary.
Above all else, Sheila loved spending time with her Grandchildren. She also spent many hours volunteering. Sheila would wrap gifts for Toys for Tots every year, work blood drives, and spent many hours volunteering for the Boalsburg Ladies Auxiliary. She also enjoyed a large circle of friends. She was an avid reader, and loved to travel. Her favorite travel companion, was her sister, Libby. They had many fun adventures together.
Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Monday, March 2, 2015 at the State College Christian & Missionary Alliance Church, 1221 W. Whitehall Road, State College, PA. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the church with Pastor Neil Breneman officiating.
Burial will be private in Boalsburg Cemetery.
