Obituary of Rita Sanker

Rita Marie Sanker, 95, of State College, died Wednesday, November 17, 2010, at her residence. Born November 7, 1915, in Altoona, PA, she was a daughter of the late Max Kettl and Elizabeth Wertzberger. On November 12, 1942, she married Harold J. Sanker, who preceded her in death on February 18, 2003. She is survived by two children, Elizabeth Zell and her husband, Paul, of State College, and Joseph Sanker and his wife, Linda, of Four Lakes, Washington, four grandchildren, Robert, Rebecca, and Tristan Sanker and Rita Zell, and her siblings, Coletta Crossman of High Springs, Fl and Theonas Fleming of Dysart, and several nieces and nephews.. Along with her husband and parents, Rita was predeceased by a daughter, Cecilia Sanker on January 18, 2009 , two sisters, Delores Tyner and Wilhelmina Myers, and a brother, Regis Kettl. She was a 1933 graduate of Altoona Catholic High School. Rita was a secretary for the Department of Geo-Sciences at Penn State University. She was a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church. Her visitation will be held Sunday, November 21, 2010 from 2-4 pm at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton Street State College, PA 16801. Her funeral mass will be held on Monday, November 22nd at 10:30 am at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, 820 Westerly Parkway, State College, with the Rev. Joseph W. Fleming officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Altoona. Memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, 820 Westerly Parkway, State College, PA 16801.
