Obituary of Alice Corl Black
Alice Corl Black 98 of Pennsylvania Furnace passed away on April 10 at Mt. Nittany Medical Center. She was born September 7, 1916 in Ferguson Township, she was the daughter of Alvin K and Margaret Homan Corl. On November 23, 1939 at Pine Hall Lutheran Church, she married Samuel Bogle Black, who preceded her in death in 2001.
She is survived by three children, Robert C. Black and his wife Arleen of Springfield PA, Virginia Kocher of Pennsylvania Furnace, and Ruth Rodgers and her husband Thomas of Bellefonte. Also surviving are five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Alice was preceded in death by a son, Samuel A.; son-in-law, Guy Kocher Jr.; brothers Peter Earl Corl and Leroy Corl; sister Anne Markle.
She grew up on a farm on Whitehall road. She attended one-room school houses and graduated from State College High School in 1934. Following graduation, she worked as a secretary in the Mineral Industries Building at Penn State.
After her marriage, she resided in the Philadelphia area until returning to Centre County in 1980.
Alice was a member of Pine Grove Presbyterian church where she served as a Deacon.
She was an accomplished seamstress who enjoyed making clothes for herself as well as her daughters and granddaughters. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family.
Alice will always be remembered for her sweet disposition and her beautiful smile.
Memorial service will be at 11 a.m., on Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at Pine Grove Presbyterian Church, 150 W Pine Grove Rd, Pine Grove Mills, with the Reverend Carl Campbell officiating.
Burial will be in Pine Hall Cemetery.

The family would like to thank all of the staff at Mt. Nittany Medical Center and Elmcroft Senior Living for their compassionate care given to our mother.
