Obituary of James Ira Weaver
James “Jim” Ira Weaver, 66, of Pennsylvania Furnace, died on April 11, 2015 at Mt. Nittany Medical Center.
Born December 15, 1948 in Bellefonte, he was the son of the late Chalmer and Grace McGonigal Weaver. He married the former Sharon Rudy, on April 25, 1981, who survives at home.
Jim is also survived by five children, Jamie Weaver and wife Amy of Neosho, MO, Carrie Godin and husband Rob of Oneida, NY, Brandi Whitaker and husband Todd of Leonardtown, MD, Tracie Weaver of Oriskany Falls, NY, and William Weaver of Pennsylvania Furnace; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and six siblings, Charlie Weaver and wife Pam of Kylertown, Linda Amsden and husband Rick of Punta Gorda, FL, Net Weaver of Centre Hall, Betty Morer of Spring Mills, Randy Weaver and wife Dot of Locke, NY, and Nancy Shadle and husband Jim of Beech Creek.
Jim was a 1968 graduate of Penns Valley High School.
He harness raced horses for many years while working for the late William Gummerson of Centre Hall. Jim later milked cows for Denny and Mary Burns of Stormstown. He also worked for Winston Corp and for the late C. Willard Campbell. For the last twenty years, he worked for Evergreen Farms, Spruce Creek, as a handyman and herdsman.
Jim loved to paint and painted lots of signs for 4H kids and local farms over the years. He loved his children greatly and enjoyed spending time with other children too. He loved the outdoors, animals of every kind, painting, and baking. He also loved attending the Grange Fair every summer.
Visitation will be 5:00p.m. to 8:00p.m. on Tuesday, April 14, 2015, at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton Street, State College.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00a.m. on Wednesday, April 15, 201,5 at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton Street, State College, with Mr. Robert Whitaker officiating.
Burial will be in Pine Hall Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton Street, State College, PA 16801, to help defray funeral expenses.
