Obituary of Boyd Kauffman

Boyd F. Kauffman, 73, of Pa Furnace, went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville. Born July 11, 1937 in Bellefonte, he was the son of the late Melvin F. and Etta Mae Albright Kauffman. On September 28, 1956 he married Karen Rasmussen, who survives. He is survived by four children, Deborah Lynn Mong, of Morgan City, LA, Christina Marie Allshouse, of State College, Scott Franklin Kauffman, of Pa Furnace, and Michelle R. Detwiler and her husband Jon, of Dubois. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Shane Kauffman, Lauren Allshouse, Derek and Lindsey Mong and one great grandchild Kaitlin Mong. Boyd was a 1956 graduate of State College High School. He served in the National Guard from 1959-1966. He was mechanic and owner operator of Red's Arco in Rock Springs. He attended the Fairbrook United Methodist Church. He also was a member of the Bellefonte Moose Lodge, a life member of the State College Elks 1600 and a member of the State College American Legion. Boyd was an avid hunter and fisherman, enjoyed bowling, golfing, and coaching little league. He was a very loving husband and father and he will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Friends will be received from 11 A.M. until 1 P.M., Saturday, May 7, 2011 at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton St. State College. Funeral service will follow at 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home with the Pastor Gene W. McCallips officiating. Burial will be in Meyer Cemetery.
