Obituary of William Loy Mountz
William “TBill” Loy Mountz Jr., 54, of State College, died Monday, May 11, 2015, at Mount Nittany Medical Center, State College.
Born on May 1, 1961, in Harrisburg, he was the son of William Loy Mountz Sr. of State College and the late Pauline McAlicher Mountz. On May 4, 1985, he married Annemarie McDonald Mountz, who survives.
Also surviving are two children, Rachel Marie Mountz of Frederick, MD and Kirk James Mountz of State College; one sister, Paula Bland and her husband, Jeffrey, of Shiremanstown; one neice, Lydia Ann Bland, also of Shiremanstown; and his parents-in-law, Carmellina and James C. McDonald, of Broomall.
He was a 1979 graduate of Mechanicsburg Area Senior High School. His classmates remained close over the years and go by the name MASH '79. William received a bachelor’s degree from Penn State University in Mathematics in 1984.
William worked for Information Technology Services at Penn State University. He was a member of the Good Shepherd Catholic Church.
William, a Mason, will be remembered for his humor, wisdom and big heart. He loved teaching, and took great pride in helping Rachel with her master’s classes in Math Education. He loved spending time with family and friends on the boat and around the fire pit, doing logic puzzles, and both listening to and playing music. He especially enjoyed composing music with Kirk. He loved being part of the garage band Dirty Agnes, and enjoyed playing music on his own and with other people.
Visitation will be 3 until 6 p.m. Thursday, May 14, 2015, at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton St., State College.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 15, 2015, at the Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 867 Grays Woods Boulevard, Port Matilda, with Father Charles Amershek officiating.
Burial will be in Spring Creek cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made payable to "Penn State" and directed to the O. Richard Bundy Blue Band Endowment or THON and mailed to Penn State, One Old Main, University Park, PA 16802. Memorial gifts also can be made to Shriner's Children's Hospital.
