Obituary of David F. Young, Jr.

David F. Young Jr., 76, of State College, died on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at the Atrium at the Village at Penn State, State College. Born February 20, 1939, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late David F. and Mary Elizabeth Crozier Young. On March 23, 1963, he married Dolores Astheimer who preceded him in death on February 16, 2014. He is survived by three children, Ann Elizabeth Young of Spokane, WA, Krista Y. Wilmot and her husband, John, of Washington, DC., and David F. Young, III and his wife, Jennifer Zentis, of State College; four grandchildren, David Young, IV, Connor Young, Mason Young and Abigail Wilmot. Dave was a 1957 graduate of Baldwin High School in Pittsburgh. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in business administration from Pennsylvania State University in 1961. After which he served in the United States Navy during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Dave worked for Verizon in business sales and administration until his retirement in 2006. He was active in the community and enjoyed volunteering for Penn State Sports Camps and Tournaments. Dave enjoyed playing with his grandchildren, riding waves in Ocean City, NJ and the occasional round of golf. He was also a huge Penn State Athletics fan. Visitation will be 6:00p.m. to 8:00p.m., Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton St., State College. The funeral service will be held at 12 noon, Thursday, February 11, 2016 at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton St., State College with celebrant, Jackie Hook officiating.
