Obituary of Matthew C. Rupert

Matt C. Rupert was a 1994 graduate of Rocky Grove High School, and held degrees from Georgia Tech and Penn State. He was Assistant Director of Academic Advising and Disability Services at the Penn State World Campus. Matt was most comfortable with a good book around the campfire with family and friends. He loved traveling, having visited Europe and South America, but Iceland held a special place in his heart. He also had a passion for board games, but most especially Scrabble tournaments, mercilessly annihilating every normal person that he played. One of his favorite events that he looked forward to was the annual AAUW book sale in State College. Throughout his career and interests he made plenty of close friends with his quick-witted sense of humor, optimistic mindset and his ability to make others feel at ease. Surviving are his parents Richard and Joyce Rupert; siblings Carrie (Rupert) and Jonathan Fleming, Erin (Rupert) John and James Collins, and Andrew Rupert. He was an uncle to Rhiannon Fleming and Keegan Collins. His partner, James Hillard, also survives. The viewing will be at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton St., State College, PA 16801 from 4:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 19th. Celebration of life will be held at a later date. Donations can be made in Matthew's memory to Schlow Centre Region Library at 211 S. Allen St., State College, PA 16801. Arrangements are under the care of Koch Funeral Home, State College.
