My condolences to Marsha and John and the rest of the family.
When I moved to State College and began working with Carol, she took me under her wing and showed me the ropes. She was generous with her time and attention and sense of humor and always made you feel included. She had a special gift.
In our business, and in life, you don't meet too many Carol Mickeys.

When John and I became close friends in high school, Carol was like a second mother to me. She made sure I was included, and wasn't without anything, even though I couldn't afford as much as other kids. I know she did this for more of John's friends than just me, too. Carol was generous in so many ways.
As I got older, Carol became a good friend. She offered me personal and career advice, usually over several drinks. I really enjoyed those times. Carol had a way of always making you feel confident, like you could do anything without fear. It's a trait she passed on to John. I attribute a conversation with him a little over a year ago for giving me the confidence to open my law practice.
My only regret is not spending more time with Carol recently, but I know she would forgive me, and that's why I'm not harder on myself given her passing. My heart aches for John, Marsha, Doc and the rest of Carol's family and friends. I hope what I shared helps a little.

John, my heartfelt condolences to you and your sister. I am so sorry to hear of your mom's passing. I only met her once, but those who knew her say she was great fun and knew how to have a wonderful time. I am sorry for your loss.
Kathleen
