Obituary of Carol Egli Mickey

Carol Egli Mickey, of Port Matilda, died Friday, December 9, 2016, at Mount Nittany Medical Center. Born in Dubois, she was the daughter of the late John S. and Nathel E. Kessler Egli. Carol is survived by her companion, Bill "Doc" Savage, of Port Matilda; daughter, Marsha Stuyvesant and her husband, Lincoln, of State College; son, John Mickey of Pittsburgh; four grandchildren, Mason and Reagan Mickey and Harly and Shea Stuyvesant; sister, Bonnie Avillion of State College; two nieces, Angie Williams, her husband, Patrick, and their children, Quinn and Teague Williams, and Kate Barron Avillion, and her son Gabe Avillion; and many supportive friends, including her caretaker, Amanda McCulley; neighbors, Rich and Critter Meyer and Denny and Nancy Weaver; friends, Chris Harris, Becky McKinstry, Lance Harpster and Ken Sharer. In addition to her parents, she predeceased in death by her brother, Joseph Egli. Carol was a graduate of State College High School. She worked as a radio sales executive for local media groups for many years. Carol enjoyed gardening, chicken farming, skiing, watching the wildlife around her home, and drinking mocha frappes and Baileys. She loved her pet dogs and parrots. She was an avid Penn State fan and especially enjoyed supporting the basketball teams. She also liked going to The Arboretum at Penn State. A celebration of Carol's life will be held on her birthday, Monday, December 19, 2016 from 6 until 8 p.m. at The Tavern, 220 E College Ave, State College. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Coaches vs Cancer of Penn State, 2302 Spruce Drive, State College, PA 16801, or to The Arboretum at Penn State, 302 Forest Resources Building, University Park PA 16802, in memory of Carol Egli Mickey.
