Obituary of Lois Catherine Holland
Lois Catherine Holland, 80, of Centre Hall, passed away with her devoted husband Jan and her two sons Stephen and Joel at her side on Monday December 4, 2017, at Mt. Nittany Medical Center.
She was born June 18, 1937, in Archer, IA, the daughter of late Lee and Anna Campbell Bonderman. On August 29, 1959 she married Jan P. Holland, who survives, and together they enjoyed 58 years of married life.
Also surviving are her two sons, Stephen Holland and his wife, Deborah, of Boise, ID and Joel Holland and his wife, Beth, of Terril, IA; two siblings, Donna Rynasko and her husband, John, of Smithfield, VA and Warner Bonderman and his wife, Beverly, of Roanoke, VA; seven grandchildren, Samantha, Sarah, Matthew, Michael, Amanda, Scott and Kyle; seven great-grandchildren, Izaac, Mariah, Hope, Nora, Emery, Nikolai and Hayden.
She was a 1955 graduate of Archer High School, Archer, IA. She received a Bachelor's degree in Home Economics/Experimental Cookery from Iowa State University in 1959. Lois worked as a dietician, secretary and massage therapist.
Lois cherished her children and grandchildren and loved to host and create special foods for family reunions. She was a passionate gardener, and loved to can and preserve her harvests. She loved being in and working in the outdoors. She remained fit by practicing Yoga for many years and also weightlifting for the past 15 years. Lois was an advocate for Homeopathy, and was an accomplished massage and Jin Shin Jitsu therapist. She enjoyed hosting our weekly Healing Group meeting for 15 years.
She was a bright, compassionate, intensely loving light that gave freely of anything she had to friends and acquaintances. Lois will be deeply missed by every soul she touched.
A Celebration of Lois's Life will be held at 2 PM, on 16 December, at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Centre County, 780 Waupelani Ext, State College, PA.
