Obituary of Roy Hubert Ellenberger

Roy H. "Pappy" Ellenberger July 9,1930, December 28, 2017. Roy H. "Pappy" Ellenberger, 87 of Pine Grove Mills, died peacefully December 28, 2017 at Juniper Village At Brookline. Born July 9, 1930 in Pine Grove Mills, he was the son of the late Melvin and Edna Ellenberger. Roy is survived by his loving wife Donna, who he was married to for 61 years. Roy is survived by four children, Stephen (Karen) of Millhiem, James (Daisie) of Millhiem, David (Patricia) of Warriors Mark and Karen (Roy) of Santa Fe, New Mexico along with 9 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by brothers: Richard, Harry, and George, sisters Helen, Mary and is survived by one sister Ruth Hartman of Boalsburg. Roy graduated from State College High School in 1948 and Penn State University in 1976. He served in the Army from 1951 to 1953. Roy retired from Rockview after 30 years in 1991 and then worked for ten years as a school bus driver for State College Area School District retiring again in 2006. He was also a skilled stone mason a trade learned from his late father. Roy was a member of Pine Grove Mills Presbyterian Church. He was also a lifetime member of the Pine Grove Mills VFW serving in the past as Post Commander and a lifetime member of the Pine Hall American Legion. Roy enjoyed singing with his church choir and especially the Penns Valley Mens Chorus. Roy was also a member of the Penn State Wrestling Club. He also enjoyed playing golf and softball. Services will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at 11:00 with visitation from 10:00 to 11:00 at the Pine Grove Mills Presbyterian Church, Pine Grove Mills, Reverend Carl Campbell officiating.
