I met Mary and Charlie many years ago during Wednesday evening Mass at Good Shepherd. We would always tell each other to stay out of trouble during Mass, but that never occurred. Topics discussed after Mass included our dogs, Charlie not listening (that would be her Charlie, not Father Charlie) cooking bacon, dog training, her family, serving others, and the list can go on and on. Fr. Charlie's dog Ziva, also looked forward to Wednesday evening Mass because she knew a bag of Mary's treats were coming.
Mary had a special way of taking care of others. No matter how horrible she felt, there was a beautiful smile and an infectious sense of humor. Wednesday evening Mass will never be the same but now Mary is in a place where she can look over us from above.
