Obituary of Mary Ann Kayhart
Mary Ann (Wraith) Kayhart, age 78, of Gatesburg, Pennsylvania went to be with her lord on May 3rd, 2018. Mary was born November 29, 1939 in Morristown, New Jersey. She was the daughter of Arthur and Emma (Fleming) Wraith. Mary is survived by her loving husband Charles Randall Kayhart of 60 years; they married on October 19th, 1957 in Morris Plains, New Jersey.
Mary was a spirited and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who enjoyed the company of family and friends. She was involved in an array of activities to include everything from quilting to genealogy. She also served as a swim instructor and a lead trainer for canine obedience classes. She greatly enjoyed volunteering for several years as a cook for the Appalachia project. Mary had a diverse and multifaceted career working as a transistor technician for Bell Labs, a veterinarian technician, and a school bus driver. She will be remembered for her kindness to all people with whom she came into contact, her willingness to serve, her love for all animals and her ability to rescue them, her love for books and reading, and most especially, her love for her family.
Left to honor and remember Mary are her four children, Dawn (George) Cunningham of Warrior’s Mark, Pennsylvania; Charles (Susan) Kayhart of Alburtis, Pennsylvania, Dale (Kim) Miller of Mertztown, Pennsylvania, and Arthur (Rita) Kayhart of Mertztown, Pennsylvania. Her sister-in-law Fini Wraith of San Diego, California. Her nine grandchildren: Andrew, George, Erik, Melissa, Justin, Bryce, Matthew, Collin, and Noah. And her eight great-grandchildren: Kale, Quinn, Katie, George, Danny, Piper, Kara, and Russell.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her brother William, and her granddaughter Rachel.
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, May 20th, 1p.m. at Christ (Mertz) Lutheran Church, 16 Fleetwood Road, Fleetwood, PA. Pastors Cheryl Meinschein and Bruce Potteiger will officiate. An additional memorial service will be held on Sunday, June 3rd, 1p.m. at Fairbrook United Methodist, 4201 West Whitehall Road, Pennsylvania Furnace, PA. Reverend Gene McCallips will officiate.
