Dr. Roeshot was a wonderful doctor; always so caring and professional. You would not leave his office until he thought he had fully done his duty in your care. He did my two knee replacements many years ago, and they are still going strong. He will definitely be missed by this community.

Such a beautiful tribute to the life and loves of this lovely, wonderful man. I went to State College High School with Doug and was in his class (1977). His charming winning smile and kind manner are what are remember so clearly from so many decades ago. He spent his life dedicated to caring for others and caring for his girls, his family and the home, Happy Valley, he clearly loved. Having endured great losses in the last two years myself, I know how much all your hearts hurt now. I send my heartfelt prayers for strength in these early days. I wish you comfort as you begin the very long process of grieving and learning to live without the person you love so dearly. He'll reach out to you, in ways only you will know, in time, which will provide you comfort. Lean on each other and friends and loved ones. If I can help in any way, as a long ago friend of Doug's, and someone who understands, I would be honored.

The last time I saw Dr. Roeshot was in his office. I told him he was my hero. He did a right hip replacement for me and then we were starting to plan the left hip surgery when he went out on medical leave. He was such a warm and genuine personality with a kick-ass sense of humor. We had many jokes and laughs along the way. He was always ready to step up to the challenge. RIP good friend. My heart aches for you..

My sincere condolences to Linnie, Sky, Devon and the entire Roeshot family. When I was living in America with no family around me, Sky and Devon would take me home with them for every major holiday (and sometimes I would just join them for family vacations). And I will never forget how Doug took me in and treated me like one of his own. He always welcome me and showed me so much kindness whenever I would appear on his doorstep with his daughters and he genuinely made me feel like an honorary Roeshot. It's really hard to put into words how much it helped me to feel like part of an american family at the time. While I can never repay him for his kindness, I hope one day I can pay it forward.

Dr Roeshot fixed my broken leg after another doctor messed it up. I saw him for a consultation and he immediately sent me to mount nittany and operated the next day. I healed quickly and have had no problems since. He was a brilliant doctor who I trusted. I am so sorry to hear of his passing. My sympathies for his family. To lose a loved one on such a holiday will be very difficult. We lost a beloved grandson on Christmas Eve. Our prayers and thoughts are with you. Lynn Peachey

My heart is broken not just for me but for his family and friends. I met Dr. Roeshot in 2003 when I started work at MNMC. I was intimidated at first by his stature and the speed and accuracy of his surgeries. I thought I’ll never be able to keep up with this guy. Soon we would be communicating during surgery via opera! We joked about this in the future often as he became such a special part of my life. I always said he had a heart so huge, he was an angel here on earth. His smile so big and his strong barrel hugs. He really was one of the most selfless souls I have ever had the pleasure to know. Words could never express how I feel about you and the kindness and love you showed me and my family. I will miss you Roeshot of the valley. Love Chandra of the woods.

Dr. Roeshot repaired my mother's broken hip, and operated on my left hand. I'm reminded of the saying among public officials, "They don't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." Doug Roeshot cared about his patients. I had as much faith in him as in any doctor I have ever encountered. This is a tremendous loss not only to his family but to our entire community. Deepest sympathy & condolences to the Roeshot Family on the passing of Doug. Hoping your many wonderful memories of Doug, his warmth and kindness, will help you through the sorrow of his loss.
I grew up with Doug, in both school and church. He was one of my best friends at SCHS, and I have many recollections of our times together. So many memories: Arts Festivals, post-football game parties, playing cards (Pinochle anyone?). Still remember when he bought his first car, the De Soto. We spent a lot of time together at PSU as well, but went our separate ways when he went off to Med School. Great times with a truly amazing person.
I had not seen Doug for quite awhile, but friends, and family, in SC kept me up-to-date on him. He lived a fulfilling life; serving the community, friends, and family. Very glad for him that he was able to actualize so much of what we talked and dreamed about in school! Wish I had been able to catch up with him more often!
"As is a tale, so is a life: not how long it is, but how good it is, is what matters." Seneca
Farewell Doug, until we meet again. God Bless.

Dear Rita, Debbie and the rest of the Roeshot family,
So surprised and saddened to learn that Doug is gone! I have so many happy memories of good times with him at Lemont Elementary School, Methodist Youth Fellowship, State High (we were both in the class of '77) and even Penn State. I last saw him at the hospital the day my mother was having hip surgery while she was at Foxdale. He was originally scheduled to do it himself, but ended up chipping a tooth and was still under the influence of anesthesia when he came to reassure me in person that all would be well with his partner stepping in as the surgeon.
Definitely gone way too soon; my deepest condolences to the entire family!
Love,

When I began a career in nursing I had no idea what kind of nursing I would like, or where I would end up within Mount Nittany. In 2017 my very first OR rotation was w Dr. Roeshot, and from that day forward I knew the OR was for me. I know that when my time comes to be an OR nurse in MNMC that many of my days would have been spent along side him documenting his hand, and I wish I could relay to him how he played in role in determining the course of the rest of my life in regard to my career.

My deepest condolences to Dr. Roeshot’s family. I was blessed to have him for my ankle surgeries. And the recovery too. The day he said to me point blank, “its never going to be pain free, you will likely always have a limp and your running days are over...so your are just going to have to suck it up buttercup!” I left there devastated. But that was exactly what I needed to hear in that moment. Many doctors would not have been so point blank about it. I respect him for it. After a few days of feeling sorry for my self I set out to prove him wrong. He knew me all to well.
May God hold you all tight in these days of sorrow and give your the strength to cherish the memories of this dear man. He was a wonderful doc. Missed by many.
