I worked with David circa 1975 at Lemont Scientific. We became immediate friends. I have thought of him many times over the years. Being friends with his son Gary, I have always told Gary to "Say hi to Dave for me'. I was so sorry to hear about Dave's passing.
Dave once told me that "The road to hell is paved with good intentions"; something I have always remembered. I'll miss Dave and all the talks we had.

Mr. Silverman, as I knew him for many years, was a wonderful neighbor and family friend. He led by example. Too many memories. But one that comes to mind, he loved Halloween and a stop by for a trick or treat turned into a small visit with conversations about costumes and then wherever the convention went. I’m grateful for the opportunity to have known him. I’m better for it.

Nancy, Gary and family,
I really enjoyed my conversations with David and Nancy while they lived in our
neighborhood. David was a great and humble man who led an exemplary life
with quite a number of accomplishments as you all know. He taught me how to age
gracefully by example, doing what you can without regretting the losses that aging imposes.
I would and still do walk my my dog Buddha by their house and hope to see his smiling face. when I saw a large motorcycle sitting in the driveway I asked David if that was his. He laughed and said it was Gary's.
It is hard to imagine a fuller life for this great man of the Greatest Generation.
My condolences,
Tom Kapustik

Nancy,
I remember all the times that David came to Corl Street Elementary School's Veteran's Day assembly. You could see the joy in his eyes as the students celebrated all of the veterans there. May he Rest In Peace.
