My heart is heavy. Carl was truly the funniest, kindest, happiest person that I knew. I met Carl and Julie by chance in 2005 and instantly they were important to me. My heart is with everybody mourning the loss of our friend/family member.

Carl was one of a kind and I was blessed to have the opportunity to call him "Dad". Carl and Julie were wonderful in-laws and treated me as family the moment they met me. Later in life his wife Gay continued that sentiment. I will remember Carl for watching Pirates baseball games, napping, watching the Weather Channel, napping, and Square Dancing. Did I mention napping? He was always kind and generous when he was awake and I will miss his laugh, his humor, and his knowledge of the weather. Rest easy my friend, you will be missed. So sorry to hear of the passing of Carl. I had the true pleasure of working with Carl at WPSU for many years. Carl was a wonderfully kind and compassionate co-worker who made a significant impact through his excellent work as Chief Engineer for WPSU TV and radio. Several of his systems and plans are still in operation today. Carl took pride in his work and was always responsive and supportive to viewers and co-workers alike. He always seemed to have a smile and I don't recall ever seeing him angry. I'd like the family to know how valued, loved and respected Carl was by his WPSU family past and present. -Jeff Hughes
