We have known Alan for many years and always enjoyed his scientific and philosophical conversations while enduring weight lifting and cardio activities at East Coast Fitness several evenings each week. It made the time spent in what seemed to be an otherwise meaningless activity pass more quickly and added incalculable value. I am certain he added similar value to all of his many contacts in many other arenas. My wife Barbara and I remain appreciative that we were included in he and Margie's fiftieth wedding anniversary party and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We will miss him as I am certain will all whose lives he enriched by his curiosity, his intellect and his genuine affection for all he met in the course of his too short life

I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. and Mrs. Payne at the Crescent Crest because I recognized Mr. Payne at a previous Penn State Global Connections social event. I enjoyed the conversation with the dear couple who were still very much young at heart. Mr. Payne regularly visited his wife to bring in favorite dishes he cooked. Mrs. Payne was always upbeat despite her health condition.
Please accept my sincere condolences.
