Obituary of Thomas Alan Payne
Thomas Alan Payne, 80, of State College, died Saturday, September 11, 2021, at Mount Nittany Medical Center.
Born May 4, 1941, in Atlanta, GA, he was the son of the late Thomas Marcus and Ruby Ballard Payne. Margie Price, his beloved wife of 55 years, preceded him in death in 2020.
He is survived by his son, Christopher Marc-Alan Payne and his wife Maria of Piteå, Sweden; one sister, Carolyn Wise of Atlanta, GA; and two grandchildren, Emilia Joy and Christopher Lukas Payne.
Thomas Alan earned his bachelor's degree in Mathematics from Morehouse College in Atlanta, GA in 1963. He was an Army veteran and worked in the Applied Research Lab for Penn State University for nearly 40 years. His passions were his family, motorsports, high fidelity audio equipment, social progress, and the education of our youth.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. until 11 a.m., Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at Albright-Bethune United Methodist Church, 206 S. Burrowes St., State College. Funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the church with Pastor Paul McReynolds officiating.
Burial will be in Georgia National Cemetery, Canton, GA.
