Obituary of Dennis Guth

Dennis Joseph Guth, 61 of State College died Saturday, January 28, 2012 at Mount Nittany Medical Center. Born June 17, 1950 in Oil City the son of Loren Guth of Kittanning and the late Anna Mae Fletcher Guth. On June 18, 1977 he married the former Maureen Buban who survives. He is also survived by two daughters Erica R. Guth of Annapolis, MD, and Kelsey L. Guth of State College and a son Christopher M. Guth of Philadelphia and his fiancé Claire Bramble, a sister Kathleen Guth of Kittanning and a brother Gary Guth of Rochester, NY. Dennis was a devoted father and husband. He graduated from University of Pittsburgh in 1972 and received a Master in 1984 in Labor Relations from St. Francis University, Loretto. Since 1987 Dennis was employed by the State College Area School District as Director of Human Resources. He was a founding member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church, and enjoyed weekends with his friends at his country cabin in Potter County where he worked to perfect his landscape photography hobby. Dennis was a lifelong and passionate fan of State College High School, University of Pittsburgh and Pittsburgh professional sports. Friends will be received at the Koch Funeral Home 2401 S. Atherton Street, State College, PA on Tuesday, January 31, 2011 from 2 until 4 and 6 until 8 pm. A funeral mass will be held at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, Grays Woods on Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at 11:00 am with The Rev. Charles M. Amershek Jr. officiating.
