Jon was many things to me - a dear friend, a classmate for 4 years at Susquehanna University, a fellow cross country runner, a longtime member of the Under the Hill Gang (the name of our SU Trivia Team, but really a secret society whose members excel at shooting the breeze). Jon had a great many friends at SU and brothers at Phi Sig. This news will come as a shock to most if not all of them.
But Jon was much more than all this. He was a husband to Kat since 1986. And a civil servant to Happy Valley for decades.
Like many politicians before him, Jon had a lot going for him - a winning smile, an infectious laugh, and a great head of hair.
The Under the Hill Gang gathers online in hilarious text and email threads on a weekly basis, but our last in-person get-together was pre-pandemic in Frederick, MD. All of us were there in honor of another member who had recently passed away, So glad that Jon could join us and we all had a blast. My last contact with Jon was the beginning of May. He was upbeat as usual about his health challenges and looking ahead to this fall to our class reunion. Not going to be the same without you, man.
Please keep Jon’s wife, Kat, in your thoughts and prayers. She has been through a lot helping Jon battle so much this past year..
