Roger Balmer was a great volunteer at the Iowa Gold Star Military Museum. Roger would come in and be excited about what he might discover or uncover for the museum. One of my fondest memories was when Kathy dressed up in a wool WAAC uniform for Memorial Day. It was hot and the wool itched. Roger teased her the whole time.
Roger was so kind and always thought of others. My husband wanted a specific Vietnam Uniform that he wore during his service. Roger found it and gave it to him. My husband treasures it to this day. We will all miss him.
What a blessing Roger was to everyone who met him.

What a gift to know this great man. Roger moved through life quietly and humbly, and his loss will be deeply felt by all those who were fortunate enough to be touched by his kindness.

Roger was as good a friend as a man could ever hope to have. I shall always treasure our memorable visits together and our phone call conversations.
May he R.I.P.
