My family, The Slears, and the Rhoades family used to go to the shore camping when we were kids. .Curly was always so much fun and could make anyone laugh. He was one of my Dads very best friends and I remember him saying at my Dads viewing, that he would like to jump in there with him. My dad always went and took my brother to Curly for hair cuts as long as I can remember,. When we grew older it was funny that my dad still got his hair cut even though he didn't have much. My mom just told me a story that must have taken place when I was too young because I don't remember it. Anyhow, she said one evening Curly, she and my older sister decided to go crabbing. They were walking along and Curly suddenly bent over at the waist in hysterics. Everyone knows that when he laughed it made everyone laugh. Here, my mom, in the dark, had picked up the mop instead of the net so she had to go back to get the net. You can only imagine how funny that must have been. I always had such a high opinion of Curly He was such an honorable man, a loyal friend, a respected member of the community, a wonderful devoted husband and father, and someone who was truly loved, The last time I saw him was at my Dads funeral and even though it was difficult for him with his leg braces, he bent over, picked up a handful of dirt and threw it on my Dads casket. He also gave dirt to my step-mother. I was very touched by that show of compassion. I was so upset to have missed Curlys' viewing and funeral due to a hospital stay but was there in spirit. My Condolences to Shirley, David, Don and their families. May memories help to ease your pain and God Bless you all.
