Nancy was my tax preparer for many years. I always looked forward to our yearly appointments because we talked and laughed so much. She was so good at her job but I also thought of her as a friend. My condolences to her family, you must all miss her so much. Nancy D

Again, I wish to express my sincere condolences to Nancy's family. It was nice to meet you all at her service, but I wish it had been under happier circumstances. I was a student of Nancy's many years ago when she taught tax classes at H&R Block. She was a wonderful person and an awesome teacher! I had not seen her in over 20 years, but thought about her often over that time. Some people you just never ever forget, and she was one of them. I wish you could have had her longer, as you lost her too soon. May she rest in peace. Mary Jane Coleman, Boalsburg, PA

I don't know any of Nancy's family or friends; I was just a grieving person left, unexpectedly, with my sister-in-law's estate to settle. I walked into H and R Block having no idea how to handle the taxes on the estate. Nancy was so helpful to me during this very difficult time, walking me through the process of filing an estate tax return, researching my sister-in-law's prior tax returns filed in Arizona so that she could calculate the most accurate return she possibly could to benefit my now parentless niece and nephew. She was so compassionate and patient and helpful and reassuring that we would be able to do the task. I never have forgotten the kindness she showed me, a clueless, grieving person who wandered into H and R Block, desperate for help. When I saw that she had passed away, I wanted her family to know how grateful I was and still am that she was there in my time of need. I thought of her fondly in the years that have passed since that day. I am sorry for your loss.

I learned the value of both family and education through the ever-present guidance of my Aunt Nancy. Never was there a greater mentor or example for living and learning. And although the world will be much less without her, I am so much more because of her. Thank God I had her. Thank God we all had her.

Teacher, Mentor, and Friend.
I worked with Nancy at H&R Block for 16 years and was the better for it. I have missed her presence in the office every year since she “retired,” as have other colleagues and her former clients. “Have you seen Nancy lately?” is the question I’ve answered many times for those who continued to care.
She was professional and conscientious, a “ the buck stops here” type of office manager. One of our colleagues always referred to her as a walking book of knowledge, when it came to taxes. She was our go to person.
Warm and fuzzy are not descriptors I’d use for Nancy, however, she did have a squishy center.
One day, post retirement, Nancy was in the office and we were having a serious sounding verbal exchange. And, in Nancy fashion, I will add, she started it! When one of our younger colleagues interrupted us by telling us that we shouldn’t be fighting with one another, Nancy immediately replied. Fighting? We’re not fighting. We love each other.”
I just smiled. I was looking at the squishy center.
For sure, they broke the mold when they made Nancy! And, I will continue to miss her.

What Marmee Means To Me
She has been there for me from the time I was born.
My math companion, and my clothing shopper extraordinaire.
Marmee was loved by others so much. And she carried so much intelligence wherever she went. Now here she lies up in heaven.
So god, please tell her she is dearly missed and loved by all that have known her. Thank you for granting her with all of this incredible knowledge that we shall pass down to our children and the generations to come.
Every time my family and I visited Pennsylvania she always made sure that we had sheets on our beds, and that we had the right food.
Sometimes she was a tough cookie but always deeply caring. She always had time to read with me and practice math or work on a sewing project or bake a pie.I am so grateful for all of the moments and gifts Marmee has given me.

I worked with Nancy the entire time she was at H&R Block. She was a bottomless source of tax information and could answer almost any questions I threw at her, and there were many. On the rare occasion she didn't have an immediate answer she would know just where to find it and would spend as much time as necessary to make sure I understood the answer. I know that she did the same for everyone else fortunate enough to have worked with her. She was a teacher above everything else, and she was a good manager and friend. She will be greatly missed, but I will remember her tireless work ethic, willingness to help everyone and her sense of humor.

My Aunt Nancy and Uncle Bob were a highlight of my childhood - a constant source of laughter and support throughout my life. I was allowed to sleep over in their apartment when the first HUGE snowfall of my life occurred and their car was buried in snow. As a child, and before she had her own kids, Aunt Nancy taught me to crochet and knit and make woven pot holders. She and my Uncle loaned me my first "rock and roll" album - Simon and Garfunkel ;-) Our family helped her family build their home during our vacations. My siblings and I thought she and my Uncle were sooooo coool when they had a convertible and drove across the country and stopped by our house. .It was inspirational to learn her heritage included both Native American and female US Marine. I eventually babysat her children in exchange for home cooking and $20 bucks while in college. (I was sooo busted for letting them watch TV.) Aunt Nancy was still offering support when I graduated from college and joined the workforce and later when I got my graduate degree. She helped me with adult decisions. She gave guidance when I thought I'd never make it as an adult. She was still there decades later when I lost my husband and when I became a guardian for my mother. She kept me on my toes. No victims only warriors. I'll always miss her but I am confident she has transitioned to a new phase of life.

Nancy was my big sister, by 4 years, and I adored her. I have such happy memories of playing triple solitaire with Nancy and Mary while listening to her folk music records. Nancy used an old Noxema jar to hide her cigarette ashes.
Twice a year, we sisters cleaned her bedroom from top to bottom and rearranged the furniture. As a teenager, she sewed her own clothes, wore spike heels and a beehive hairdo. She danced well and had many friends.
Nancy and Bob were a great comfort to me when I was a student at Penn State. Many wonderful evenings were spent on the porch, Bob playing guitar and Nancy and I singing along.
Over the years, Nancy and I talked for hours in her kitchen while she cooked.
I loved Nancy and will feel her loss keenly.
