I just found out about Don today. I am deeply shocked and so sad by this news. I knew Don from the Dog Park at Harvest. I have not been out and about much since November 1 (helping my son recover from a hip replacement), and then my husband and I got COVID. Don was a super kind and friendly person. He will be greatly missed and left us all far too young.

I only knew Don from the dog park. But you can learn a lot about people at a dog park. First off, Don loved dogs. All dogs. His of course, but also yours. He knew all of their names, as well as yours. He knew their favorite toys. Don knew whether they were outgoing or shy and treated them accordingly.
His dog Sterling was wonderful. Beautiful, exuberant and well trained. The alpha dog with a sense of humor.
Don was equally conscious of the people in our group. He knew our names, and what our interests were. He listened to our stories and laughed if they were funny. Even if they were not. He offered suggestions if you were at a crossroads. He was a valuable and well liked member of our little group of people and dogs. When he and Sterling were there, activity and conversation kind of revolved around him. He will be greatly missed.

I am so saddened and sorry to hear this news about Don. I had him in class during my time at BCC and although he liked to be an agitator in class, he was still very likeable. Without a doubt, he was one of the brightest students I have ever had in my many years of teaching. In fact, I am convinced that he had a photographic memory. But, he did not want to be known as as a bright kid.
Due to pushing the envelope in many of his classes, Don often spent extra time after school. He wasn't malicious, but he liked to stir things up a bit. I truly think he was bored and perhaps knew more than the teacher did sometimes, which led to some of his antics, which honestly were rather funny. I often moderated his after-school time and got to know him better. I got to see him as a very bright, kind-hearted and conscientious young man - in spite of some of the goofiness that he often showed in school. I have fond memories of going on a long bike hike with him. Even then, it was evident that mountain biking was a passion he had.
I regret that I had lost contact with Don. I would have liked to have had some conversations with him as an adult and reminisce a bit and also hear his thoughts on life.
I have offered him up in my prayers and I pray that he rests in peace. God bless you, Don! You will be missed!
