Sending our deepest sympathy to the entire Wong family. Your father/grandfather was the sweetest, kindest and generous man we had the pleasure to get to know over the years that we lived in State College. We admired his devotion to his family and he was so proud to share pictures with us of the accomplishments of all of the children as they grew older and excelled in careers, schools, and sports. He truly was a role model for all of them. Herb never boasted of his military achievements, but was so proud to wear that uniform, and attend any local function that requested his participation. Since we moved out of the area almost 9 years ago, it was more difficult to stay in touch, but occasionally I would get a phone call, and it was so special to hear his voice. He was especially kind to me when I lost my own father, and I think that is why we became such good friends. Who knew that a chance meeting on the treadmill in the early hours of any weekday morning at the gym, would bond us in such a one of a kind friendship. We will miss his smile, and warm hugs, and special delivery of Susie's rum cake or egg rolls when we least expected it. That was your Dad, and we loved him. May he Rest In Peace, and without a doubt he has a already made great friends in heaven!

We are so sorry to hear of Herb's passing. Herb came to our house one day, we didn't even know him, but he found out that Mahlon was a Marine and he came to invite him to join the Nittany Leathernecks. From that day forward we remained friends. Herb was a very dedicated Marine. He will be missed ....we were blessed the day that "stranger" knocked on our door!

I met Herb, Terry and family back in the 70's and enjoyed many fun-filled times at the "farm" in Farmers Mills with them. A kinder family was hard to find. My sincere sympathy to the "kids" in the loss of their dad. Herb was a wonderful person. May God hold each of you in his hands during this sad time.

My sister and I worked as waitresses for Susie Wong restaurant under the direction of Herb and Theresa Wong all during college at Penn State during the late 70s. They treated us like their own kids. We became good friends with their family. They came to our birthday parties, they shared events with us. A wonderful wonderful couple and family.
State College will miss Herb Wong!
