In 1970 Herb and his wife Theresa moved their four children from Long Island, NY to open Suzie Wong's, State College's first Chinese restaurant. Their first restaurant was located downtown on College Avenue which later moved to North Atherton Street in 1972 (now Champs). His original egg roll recipe has been a State College favorite for over 50 years.
Herb loved sharing stories of his football days at West Allis Central High School. He played four years as a Guard. During those years he was chosen Most Valuable Player and team Captain. He also played for the Wisconsin State Football league (a state amateur football league). The undefeated team won the state championship that year. He was a serious collector of war memorabilia. He collected patches, uniforms, equipment and boots. He loved taking pictures and videos of his friends and family. He could always be seen at a sporting event, dance recital, or other special event with a camera in his hand posing everyone for pictures.
