So sad to read of Eileen's death. May God give you - Cal and Claire - peace and strength. Remembering summer reading program at the Alexandria library where I met Claire and Eileen, and playdates at your home. Always thought a lot of Eileen. Enjoyed her friendship.

Eileen was an excellent and reliable friend, as well as a terrific neighbor and walking partner. For many, many years, we walked about three times a week for our physical and mental health. Walking with Eileen was how I learned about her hobbies, interests, family and coworkers. She let me into her world during our walks. We certainly had interesting experiences on some of those walks, including an encounter with a horny, aggressive renegade goat! We strategically caught the goat and tied him up. On another walk we came across a rusty vehicle overturned on the bank of a backwoods road. We timidly determined there wasn’t anyone inside the car, then Eileen later reported it to authorities; turned out the car was stolen!
Walk on, Eileen, in peace and serenity.

Eileen was more serious than most of us in the Game Commission's fledgling wildlife diversity section. Her obituary notes she was a writer and editor for the section. This was a large and crucial job at the time and Eileen excelled, taming more than one wild writer. She was instrumental in giving our small section a public profile. She did this by producing and editing a popularized annual report.
Probably only one woman in Pennsylvania has been living with a series of wild rabbits in the house. I also remember her entomology years; butterflies and Claire beware!
Eileen thrived on creativity and art. This was very evident after she retired.
There was only one Eileen and we'll never forget her.
