I was very sorry to read about the loss of Laverne. Although I did not know her well, I always enjoyed spending time chatting with her at the Cornell picnic and other events. My condolences to her family.
I had the privilege of interacting with Laverne on several occasions, and while I was most impressed with her intelligence, I was happy to find in her a kindred spirit--another southern woman who at times "just had to cook!" My sincere condolences to my colleague Darryl and to Laverne's entire family.
It was with deep saddest that I just learned of Mrs Laverne's death. I will never forget how alive and irrepressible she was even in the last months of her life. To Thomas and everyone close to you and Mrs Laverne, Josephine and I send our deepest sympathy. You are in our thoughts and will continue to be.
I am saddened to hear about the loss of Mrs. Laverne. She was a beautiful woman with a warm and beautiful spirit. I hope that the family takes comfort in the fact that she is in no more pain. Please know that you are in the thoughts and prayers of many. May God sustain you.
Very sorry to hear about the loss of Laverne. Only having had the opportunity to be in her company a few times via my sister Nancy, it was always an enjoyable occasion. May God and his love provide you and your family comfort during this difficult time.
