Obituary of Scott Kauffman
Scott F. Kauffman, 51, of State College, went to be with the lord due to a brief illness with his family by his side.
Born September 21, 1963 in Bellefonte, he was the son of Boyd F. Kauffman and Karen Kauffman.
He is survived by his son, Shane Kauffman, and his fiancé, Amanda Sockriter, of Absecon, NJ and one grandson, Shane Kauffman, Jr. He is also survived by his sisters, Deborah Mong, of Louisiana, Christina Allshouse, of State College, and Michelle Detwiler and her husband, Jon, of Dubois. He had several aunts and uncles which he adored. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Scott was a graduate of Jefferson Central High School in Watertown, NY. He served as a Petty Officer in the United States Coast Guard for twenty years. He received many medals during his career. He was awarded gold star of achievement, bronze star for unit commendation, gold star bicentennial unit, bronze medal for nation defense and special operations, sea service ribbon award and another medal serving in the gulf war and many conduct awards.
He retired in 2003 and moved back to Pennsylvania to be with his family.
He was an avid hunter, fisherman. He loved nascar, Steelers and country music.
He will be solely missed by everyone who knew him as a wonderful father, brother, son, and friend to anyone who passed his way.
A private service will be held in request of the family.
A full military salute will be conducted at the burial site in his honor.
