Obituary of Fred L. Royer

Fred L. Royer, 89, of Ingleby, died on Thursday, March 19, 2015 at Juniper Village at Brookline. Born June 6, 1925 in Englewood, NJ, he was the son of the late Daisy Coble Weaver. He is survived by his wife, Beverly Jane Jodon Royer; children, Thomas Royer and wife, Carol, of Jacksonville, FL, David Royer and wife, Roxanne, of Dublin, OH, and Robert Royer and wife, Kimberly, of Akron, OH; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one sister, June Weaver of State College; and two brothers, Donald Royer and Richard Weaver, both of the Harrisburg area. Fred was a 1943 graduate of John Harris High School in Harrisburg. After which he served in the United States Army and was stationed in India and Burma during World War II in rank of Master Sergeant. Fred was an alumnus of Penn State University, receiving his doctorate in psychology in 1956. He was a Clinical and Research Psychologist at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Perry Point, MD and then Director of the Psychophysiological Research Laboratory of the Veterans Administration Medical Center, Cleveland, OH, until his retirement in 1986. Fred was also an Adjunct Professor of Psychology at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH. He was a member of American Psychological Association and The Psychonomic Society. Additionally, he was a member of the Art Alliance of Central Pennsylvania, the Susquehanna Art Society, and a Signature Member of the Pennsylvania Watercolor Society. Visitation will be 6:00p.m. to 8:00p.m. on Monday, March 23, 2015 at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton Street, State College. Funeral service will be held at 11:00a.m. on Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton Street, State College, with the Reverend Dennis Hummel officiating.
